JOB SUMMARY:
Lantic is currently recruiting for the position of Health & Safety Manager for the operations department based at our Montreal refinery. Reporting to the Plant Manager of the Montreal refinery, the incumbent coordinates all aspects relating to the prevention and management of work accidents. He/she will need to apply their knowledge and leadership skills to develop a health and safety culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop tools and procedures that promote the elimination of risks (injuries, accidents) and develop procedures when the elimination of the source is possible (lockout procedure, entry into a confined space, etc.);
  • Together with stakeholders from various sectors, participate in the development of prevention improvement plans;
  • Design, implement and monitor various prevention programs focusing on employee attitudes and behaviors (reflex/prevention, safety meetings, etc.);
  • Ensure the implementation of safety measures during engineering, repair and modification of existing equipment;
  • Establish a strategy to develop a culture and leadership in occupational health and safety among all stakeholders;
  • Participate in the development of a strategy to be implemented and follow-up on all contentious cases in terms of health and safety;
  • Organize and keep all the statistics relating to the management of occupational health and safety up to date;
  • Conceptualize and implement processes that promote the continuous improvement of the refinery site risk management (fires, spills, terrorist acts, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Post-secondary studies in occupational health and safety (or other related studies);
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in industrial health and safety;
  • Fluent in French and in English, both oral and written, in order to communicate with both our French and English speaking sites;
  • Licensed Certified Security Professionals (PSAC) (an asset);
  • Experience in a unionized environment (an asset);
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office);
  • Team spirit, good communicator and mobilizer;
  • Sharp sense of responsibility;
  • Adaptable, autonomous and rigorous;
  • Sense of urgency and good critical sense;
  • Efficient, organized, ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
