About the role

Role at a Glance

WalterFedy is seeking an Interior Design Technologist to join our expanding Edmonton office. The Interior Design Technologist is primarily responsible for creating architectural BIM models and producing high-quality documents from schematic design through construction documents construction documents for a broad range of healthcare, industrial, commercial, residential, and institutional projects. You will work under the direction of our team of senior technologists and architects, and in collaboration with other disciplines as part of an integrated project team. This role will provide you with an opportunity to develop as an Interior Design Technologist while also allowing you to work towards developing a unique skill set as an expert in integrated design.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare technical drawings in accordance with established codes, standards, and other specifications, under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Generate accurate plans and details using knowledge of construction techniques, record drawings, drawing mark-ups, and instructions provided by architects and engineers.
  • Maintain catalogue information and technical file systems to ensure efficient organization and retrieval of project data.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and team members, including in-house integrated teams and external consultants.
  • Complete Revit and/or CAD tasks assigned by more senior staff, following established workflows and procedures.
  • Ensure work products meet high-quality standards, Revit and/or CAD standards, and deadlines set by project managers.
  • Participate in quality assurance and control programs, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the team and company objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to our company values of quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community, integrating these principles into daily work practices and interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Has completed a diploma in Interior Design Technology or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of Revit is required.
  • Solid understanding of provincial and national standards, regulations, and building codes.
  • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Strong understanding of design principles, color theory, and space planning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate design ideas and concepts.
  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing design projects and technical skills.
  • Pursuing a degree from a CIDA accredited program considered an asset.
  • Previous internship or work experience in an architectural or design firm is preferred.
