The Sr Technical Specialist ensures the availability, stability, integrity and efficient operation of complex technologies deployed across multi-technical platforms and environments within the enterprise. With a focus on a specific area of expertise, the incumbent will ensure that technical services in that area are provided to clients to meet both the current and future business needs, and that defined service levels for performance and availability are being met. This includes research, design, implementation support, complex incident response, project consulting, and ongoing maintenance. As a more senior role to the technical analysts, this role also provides guidance to others.
How you will create impact:
- Research and design technology solutions according to requirements and formulate proposals that provide alternatives and recommendations to address client needs, consulting with peers to create optimal design topologies and configurations.
- Coordinate with other teams and/or external partners and service providers to ensure successful implementation of system software and/or hardware solutions, investigating issues/conflicts in test and in production and integrating changes as applicable across the group of companies.
- Coordinate and manage complex technical incident and problem resolution within various production and test environments by conducting research, investigation, and diagnosing and recommending solutions.
- Develop and establish operational processes and procedures to monitor and control various production and test environments.
- Provide technical leadership and consultation to internal customers and external partners on complex projects as the key representative of a given technology domain.
- Identify emerging technological trends and provide recommendations for technical strategy and direction to management.
- Provide training and mentoring to peers and clients as required, ensuring team members are aware of existing or new processes.
- Participate in change management processes to ensure clients are notified of system changes and that IT change procedures are followed for approving and implementing changes.

To join our team:

Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
-
5+ years of work experience in a technical environment, some on a Midrange team. Familiar with operational processes, such as change and incident management.

Proficient working knowledge of IBM AS400 (iSeries) operational and performance management, including applied experience with areas such as AS400 profiles, objects, libraries and ownership.

Has working knowledge and experience ideally with both IBM AIX and Red Hat Linux.

Competent knowledge of certificates and repositories (Java, WebSphere and Tomcat are preferred), with previous experience in adding and renewing existing signed certificates to the various repositories ideal.

Salary information
Expected salary range $72,847 to $121,411
Salary placement
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Incentive/Variable pay
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
