A career as a Senior Advisor – legal Affairs and Compliance in the Compliance and risk Management team in the Insurance sector at National Bank this means acting as a specialist to influence the sector's risk management orientations and ensure they are consistent with the Bank's orientations. This position allows you to have a positive impact on our organisation thanks to your expertise in the field of risk management by working with the sector's management and various decision-making partners.
Your job:
- Act as a legal expert for all complaints and litigation files in the sector that may require a formal legal opinion
- Serve as the first point of contact for regulatory authorities and various insurance industry committees
- Act as a RPCFAT expert person for the insurance sector
- Maintain and implement best practises and update the various components of the legal and regulatory framework for the insurance sector
- Assist the Chief Compliance and risk Management Officer in guiding and advising internal and external stakeholders and management in decisions that require expertise in legal affairs and compliance
- Oversee the development of reports, questionnaires, and statements to be submitted to regulatory authorities and insurance sector management (e.g., semi-annual compliance report to the Board of Directors)
- Implementing the various components of the regulatory Compliance Program
- Contribute to or represent compliance in Bank-wide projects or initiatives affecting the insurance sector
- Support strategic and continuous improvement initiatives related to regulatory compliance management and the execution of action plans for the AMF, Internal Audit and the independent Compliance Assessment sector
Your team:
You are part of a team of 7 colleagues in National Bank Insurance and will report to the Chief Compliance and Operational risk Management Officer.
We favour a variety of forms of continuous learning to enhance your development, including on-the-job learning, training content and working with colleagues with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
Prerequisites:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and six years of experience or master’s degree in a related field and four years of experience
- Member of the Barreau du Québec, an asset
- Excellent understanding of the legal and regulatory framework in the insurance industry
- Analytical skills with a strong focus on solutions
- Excellent ability to summarise, explain and implement complex concepts
- Strong interpersonal, influential and communication skills
- Organizational skills and priority management
- In-depth knowledge of products and activities related to the insurance industry.
