Position Title: Food and Beverage Bartender
Department: Food & Beverage
Location: Delta Hotels By Marriott Halifax Downtown, NS
Reports To: Food & Beverage Services Manager
Employment Type: Hourly Full-Time
General Overview:
This front-line position is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customer focus. Our colleagues work to provide the highest level of service in a knowledgeable, professional manner while striving constantly to exceed guest expectations. Reporting to the Manager the primary areas of focus for this position are:
Key Responsibilities:

Embrace the hotel’s Food and Beverage Standards and its Vision, Mission, and Values.
-
Exceed the expectations of all guests (both internal and external) through empowerment and by responding attentively, efficiently, and politely to all requests.
-
Contribute to the overall financial success of the Food and Beverage department through suggestive selling, up-selling, breakage/equipment control, and accurate financial reporting
-
Ensure cleanliness of the front and back of the house and ensuring the safety of guests
-
Perform opening/closing duties such as preparing tables, stocking stations
-
Prepare beverage orders for guests and serve in a responsible manner
-
Serve guests with full knowledge of all menu items.
-
Bus and reset tables as required
-
Help create a positive work environment through teamwork and cooperation with peers and team leaders.
-
Actively participate in monthly departmental communication meetings.
-
Contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by reporting all safety hazards, following WHMIS and Fire safety training, and working in a safe manner.
-
Accountable for a cash float and proper settlement procedures for bills.
-
Provide the highest level of service in a knowledgeable, professional manner.

Other duties as assigned
Other Abilities, Skills and Competencies:

Must be of legal age to serve alcohol
-
Minimum of 1-year bartending and serving experience is required.
-
Knowledge of wine service is an asset
-
Responsible Beverage Server Certificate
-
Demonstrates exceptional guest service skills with a passion to continually anticipate and exceed expectations.
-
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and a keen eye for detail are essential.
-
Able to organize job tasks efficiently, be thorough and exact with details, provide quality guest service
-
Reliable and flexible to work varied shifts (Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays)
-
Capable of handling a physically demanding workload, including lifting, or standing for long periods of time
-
Friendly, energetic, enthusiastic individual with a neat, professional appearance
-
Previous cash handling experience is an asset and a working knowledge of Maitre D’ is an asset
Working Conditions:
Able to meet the physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Full-Time: 25–40 hours/week

Rate of Pay: $17.69 – $18.69 per hour, plus eligibility to receive tips
