SUMMARY:
- Under the supervision of the Project Engineer / Product Group Manager, the Designer will prepare or modify CAD models and drawings of process air systems and or pulp sheet dryers and their various sub components based on existing or new technology.
- The Designer is expected to work as a team player in cooperation with other company personnel such as project managers, designers, engineers and purchasing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Using a combination of Autocad 2D & 3D prepare layout, detail and fabrication drawings, including drafting and checking of drawings when required, following industry accepted design and drafting principles, for equipment such as:
- complete pulp sheet dryers, heat recovery air systems sheet handling equipment; heat exchangers; fans; steam coils, piping, dampers; ductwork; panels and doors etc.
- Recommend and develop standard designs and drawings to minimize cost of equipment design and manufacturing.
- Participate in or lead the following tasks: project kickoff meetings; design review meetings with customers, consultants and installation contractors; field measurements; field installation supervision of designed equipment; preparation of purchasing requirements; preparation of drawings and applicable design documentation.
- Support research and development projects.
- Maintain & update design files and BOM electronic directories on all projects
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, CEGEP or Technical School Diploma in mechanical drafting, or equivalent, with specialization in mechanical design, and/or equivalent. Industrial HVAC experience in the pulp and paper industry is definitely an asset.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Thorough knowledge of Autocad 2D and or 3D is required
- Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor is an asset
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (especially sheet metal assemblies and welding) is an asset.
- Availability to travel within NA (as required)
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5 years (B. Eng/Cegep Diploma) with progressive work experience in a design environment.
