Southern Comfort Mechanical Inc. is currently seeking a Residential Finisher to join our team! SCMI provides many long-term employment opportunities with very low turnover. The successful applicant will complete the final stages of HVAC system installation in new residential construction. This role ensures that all finishing tasks are completed with precision, equipment is correctly set up and balanced, and all documentation is submitted accurately. The Residential Finisher plays a key role in ensuring homes are ready for occupancy with high-quality, functional HVAC systems.
Responsibilities
Perform proper HRV air balancing in accordance with specifications and code requirements. Install all air supply and return grills/registers in designated locations according to the mechanical layout. Set up and program Ecobee (or equivalent) thermostats to control furnace, air conditioning, and HRV systems. Rough in and install builder-supplied kitchen hood fans as required. Replace or reinforce any structural blocking that was removed or damaged during sheet metal installation. Seal furnaces to eliminate air leaks and ensure optimal system performance and energy efficiency. Review all finishing work for completeness and correctness, and identify and report any deficiencies or issues to the supervisor. Install and test timers for ventilation or exhaust systems as per the home’s specifications. Take photos and record serial numbers of installed HVAC equipment for company records and warranty tracking. Provide regular updates to the supervisor on job progress, completed tasks, and any delays or issues encountered.
Qualifications
Prior experience in residential HVAC installation or finishing work preferred. Ability to balance HRV systems accurately – training can be provided if necessary. Familiarity with HVAC equipment, thermostats (Ecobee preferred), and standard tools. Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
