What is the opportunity?
This Strategic Initiatives team within Corporate Actuarial provides critical actuarial transformation support across IFRS 17 Day 2 implementation, CSM development, and other strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will lead end-to-end reporting improvements as part of the finance and actuarial transformation program, drive CSM calculation engine enhancements, and provide expert advisory support on complex IFRS 17 matters.
The Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives will lead the finance and actuarial transformation program workstreams, drive CSM calculation engine enhancements, and provides IFRS 17 technical guidance to cross-functional teams. The position offers high visibility and the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership to enhance reporting accuracy, resolve complex technical challenges, and shape future finance and actuarial capabilities.
What will you do?
- Lead the finance and actuarial transformation workstreams to improve end-to-end reporting accuracy and efficiency, including data integrity management, problem resolution, process optimization, and system implementation across actuarial functions
- Investigate existing CSM calculation issues and drive problem resolution through deep dive analysis, comprehensive testing, root cause identification, and configuration review to develop enhanced tools, processes and documentation that support accurate financial reporting
- Provide expert IFRS 17 advisory support to Portfolio, Capital, and Financial Reporting teams on standard interpretation, calculation methodologies, and reporting requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with senior stakeholders to investigate and resolve high-impact technical issues related to CSM emergence, profitability analysis, and regulatory compliance
- Summarize complex findings into clear, actionable presentations and recommendations for senior leadership and regulatory stakeholders
- Lead and contribute to strategic ad-hoc projects as transformation programs evolve, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and regulatory requirements
What will you need to succeed?
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail for complex problem solving and investigative work
- Knowledge of IFRS 17, including the CSM emergence and its application in the different measurement models
- Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional collaboration and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Extensive experience with GGY AXIS and familiarity with insurance product modeling and valuation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical results to non-technical audiences
- Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or a related discipline
- FSA or close to FSA
