Overview of role: The Senior SwiftUI Developer is a key member of the development team that writes and maintains the IOS apps used by our pilots and cabin crew. You will work closely with the API developers and solution architects to come up with new features in our mission-critical mobile apps.

Key deliverables:

  • Plan and lead development on new features
  • Work with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to understand what needs to be built
  • Find root cause and solutions for defects
  • Actively participate in the team’s agile ceremonies
  • Find ways to improve system robustness, resilience, and stability
  • Guide the ways in which the team works
  • Involved in identifying appropriate technology and approaches, deciding when software should be written
  • Promotes the daily use of established software development best practices, methodologies and standards amongst the WestJet software development team
  • Contribute to the developer community
  • Provide technical leadership, coach, and mentor your team
  • Leads reviews of own work and reviews of colleagues' work
  • Promote knowledge sharing and adoption of best practices
  • Advise on the right way to apply standards and methods, ensuring compliance and maintain technical responsibility for all the stages and iterations of a software development project
  • Provide technical advice to stakeholders and set the team-based standards for programming tools and techniques
  • Leads workshops, presentations, and training that provide skill and knowledge development for the team
  • Document system components, related interfaces and provide input into preparing release notes
  • Coordinate build activities across systems, undertakes and supports integration testing activities

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years of experience preferred in all phases of software development
  • Extensive experience in native IOS development, particularly SwiftUI
  • Demonstrate strong understanding and application of the most appropriate modern standards and practices and take responsibility for coaching and guiding others
  • Understand whole systems and take responsibility for teaching this to others
  • Requires expert problem-solving skills and advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in managing service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets
  • Expertise in identifying process optimization opportunities with guidance and contribute to the implementation of proposed solutions
  • Broad understanding of information security, and can design solutions and services with security controls embedded, specifically engineered as mitigation against security threats as a core part of the solutions and services
  • Proficient in collaborating with others when necessary to review specifications and can use these agreed specifications to design, code, test and document programs or scripts of medium to high complexity, using the right standards and tools
  • Proficient in working on complex integration as part of a wider team
  • Proficient in design systems characterized by medium levels of risk, impact, and business or technical complexity
  • Expertise in reviewing the systems designs of others to ensure the selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technology
  • Expert in prioritizing and define approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so
