About the role
Global Public Affairs (Global), Canada’s fastest growing public affairs firm, is looking for a talented, early career professional to join our Toronto office as a Consultant. This full-time position, part of our expanding Ontario Public Affairs Practice, offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the country.
The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, well-organized, proactive, strategic, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and is expected to have 1-2 years of experience working in government or alongside government relations teams.
We are looking for someone who is outgoing, client and service-oriented, organized when dealing with multiple, complex projects, and enjoys working in a fast-paced team atmosphere. Event experience is not required but would be considered an asset. Reporting to the Senior Vice President this position offers a positive work environment and the opportunity to grow a business and collaborate with colleagues across the country.
The pay range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000 annually. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications. We anticipate that the starting salary will be at the entry level of the band with room for growth as the candidate develops in the role.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Roles and Responsibilities
Provides significant support in the execution of client service within the Ontario public affairs team Represents the company and/or clients as appropriate at events Prepares written reports and proposals; delivers results presentations as well as business development presentations Prepares agendas and meeting notes for client calls and meetings Supports the administration of the business arrangements with clients – contracting, invoicing etc. Supports the strategic direction of the Ontario public affairs practice and aide in its growth path Monitor government proceedings including Question Period and Committees and prepare written summaries for clients Monitors government issues for clients and seeks timely answers on client inquiries Coordinate and schedule meetings for clients with government and prepare briefing notes in advance Seeks guidance and support as needed; mitigates issues prior to their escalation Skills and Qualifications A post-secondary degree in business, political science, public administration, or a related discipline or relevant experience A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a political or relevant government relations industry environment Ability to work at both the strategic level and the detailed, tactical level Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a keen attention to detail Strong presentation skills and ability to work across multiple platforms Knowledge of the roles and functions of all three levels of government Ability to register under the Ontario Lobbying Act, with no restrictions, is required Business development acumen, with experience in written submissions Ability to multi-task and be results oriented, sometimes under time pressures Strong inter-personal skills with a client-service focus Excellent time-management skills, ability to organize work-flow and accountable to deadlines Ability to work within a team environment Bilingualism would be an asset
