We’re currently seeking a compassionate and creative Activities Assistant to join our team at Evergreen Heights and Manor in White Rock. In this permanent, part-time role (2 days per week), you’ll help plan and deliver programs and events that promote holistic wellness and community connection for our residents.

Reporting to the Administrator, you’ll play a key role in fostering an engaging and inclusive environment; supporting residents to experience emotional, physical, social, intellectual, and spiritual well-being through meaningful activities and community involvement.
Please note: While the position is officially for 2 days per week, there may be occasional opportunities to work an additional day, as invited by the team, based on program needs.

About the Role
As an Activities Assistant, you will assist in organizing and implementing a variety of programs and events that encourage healthy living and social interaction. You’ll help coordinate outings, support volunteers, maintain records, and ensure all programs reflect Baptist Housing’s values of compassion, respect, and servant leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and evaluating resident programs that promote wellness and build community.

  • Create and post monthly activity calendars, notices, and schedules in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate and drive residents on bus outings such as scenic drives, mall trips, and community events.

  • Ensure safe operation, cleanliness, and upkeep of the Baptist Housing bus, maintaining accurate records and logs.

  • Assist in setup and takedown for programs and events.

  • Maintain attendance records, activity reports, and statistics as required.

  • Support relationships with volunteers, local organizations, and community partners to enhance resident engagement.

  • Observe residents’ well-being and communicate changes or concerns to the Administrator.

  • Promote and model a culture of health, safety, and servant leadership.

  • Participate in professional development activities and team meetings.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education and completion of a recognized Activity Aide or Recreational Therapy course/certificate.

  • Bus driving experience or Class 4 unrestricted driver’s license preferred.

  • Current First Aid/CPR and Food Safe certifications.

  • Experience working with seniors and organizing group activities, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and adapt activities based on resident interests and abilities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine desire to serve seniors.

  • Physically and mentally able to carry out the duties of the role.

  • Proficient in organizing schedules and maintaining accurate records.
