Breakthrough T1D is searching for an experienced fundraising professional for the role of Senior Development Officer, Eastern Canada.

If you’re a strategic, relationship-driven, and goal-oriented fundraising professional who would like to drive regional fundraising efforts and deepen donor engagement across Montreal and Ottawa , please read on to see if this is the right fit for you.

Here’s what your primary responsibilities would be:

  • Implement fundraising best practices to exceed revenue and participation targets for peer-to-peer events like the Walk to Cure Diabetes and Ride to Defeat Diabetes.
  • Collaborate with the Development Manager, Eastern Canada to strategize and execute regional fundraising plans.
  • Inspire, motivate, and engage event participants to maximize fundraising success.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including event participants, corporate contacts, volunteers, and community influencers.
  • Engage newly diagnosed families by providing resources and promoting regional fundraising events.
  • Balance stewardship of current participants with recruitment of new fundraisers.
  • Maintain detailed records of donor and participant interactions using CRM and other systems.
  • Work closely with corporate partnerships and event experience teams to support overall event goals.
  • Represent Breakthrough T1D at special events and community activities to promote the mission and fundraising initiatives.
  • Manage a portfolio of annual, monthly, and mid-level donors through all stages of cultivation and stewardship to meet revenue targets.
  • Support third-party (Fundraise Your Way) event organizers and fundraisers.
  • Solicit and steward regional revenue through corporate partnerships, foundation giving, sponsorships, and leadership giving.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • 2–3 years of fundraising experience, ideally in peer-to-peer events.
  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Communications, Fundraising, or a related field - or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with CRM systems and fundraising platforms is an asset.

Working Style

  • Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable communicating complex information to diverse audiences.

Other position requirements to note:

  • Must be located in the Montreal area.
  • Must be fluently bilingual in French and English.
  • Flexibility to travel throughout the region (approx. 20%) and attend evening/weekend events.
  • Valid driver’s license is considered an asset.

Salary Range: Anticipated to be $58,000 - $63,000, commensurate with skills and experience level of the selected candidate.

Location Preference: Required in the Montreal area to support regional fundraising and community engagement.
