Building Management System Specialist
About the role
The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) is a Crown corporation responsible for overseeing the Canadian federal interests in four international bridge crossings between Canada and the United States. Its mandate is to provide the highest level of stewardship so that the international bridges and associated structures are safe and efficient for users. FBCL owns, manages and operates international bridges and associated structures in Sault Ste. Marie, Point Edward, Lansdowne (Thousand Islands) and Cornwall, Ontario.
Summary: Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Building Management Systems (BMS) Specialist ensures the safe, effective and efficient operation of FBCL’s environmental, mechanical and electrical automated building management systems. This includes, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, major refrigeration systems, energy generation, lighting, and water treatment. The Building Management Systems Specialist provides expertise in HVAC and BMS systems operation, maintenance, repair, lifecycle planning and responds to work order requests.
Essential Qualifications:
- Knowledge of building management systems in industrial/office buildings normally acquired through a combination of a High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- HVAC certification or working towards one, and hands on experience
- Experience with building management systems and controls systems
- Experience in electrical, mechanical and power generation systems
- Experience using computer systems and software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Excellent initiative, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Strong communication, organizational, time management and documentation skills
- Ability to bend, stoop and climb
- Ability to work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding and in confined spaces
- Ability to respond to emergencies on a 24 hour basis
- Possess a valid G driver’s license
- DZ license is required or the ability to acquire one within 4 months of hire
- Ability to obtain and maintain Reliability security clearance required; and,
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain English speaking, reading and writing language requirement is required.
