Temporary Communications Associate

We are accepting applications for the following Non-Union 1.0FTE temporary Communications Associate at the Education Centre in Seaforth, Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35hours per week
Employment Start Date: December 15, 2025
Employment End Date: December 11, 2026
Compensation Package Details:
Rate of Pay : $35.96 - $41.88 per hour per Level 4 in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Non-Union, Management, Administrative and Supervisory Employees
Pension Plan : Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)
Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through TELUS which includes:
- 24/7 confidential support
- Access to information on personal fitness, nutrition, career, financial and legal advice; relationship & family support, and overall wellbeing resources.
Reports to: Communications Manager
Responsibilities:
- Work with Communications Manager and Senior Staff to develop and promote stories of interest to parents and broader community via Board website, print materials and social media;
- Administrate Board and school websites using the Edlio/Scholantis Content Management System (CMS). This includes page/content updates; web story posts; career opportunities and tender posts; user management; SEO; AODA compliance; analytics; basic graphic design; layout; linking social media;
- Work with graphic designer to prepare print and digital materials to produce logos, posters, flyers, banners, etc., meeting tight deadlines and adhering to accessibility procedures and requirements as outlined in AODA and consistent with AMDSB brand identity;
- Provide expertise in website and print AODA requirements;
- Collaborate as a member of the communications team to proactively build on the digital marketing and communication plans to ensure they reflect current and emerging priorities relevant to the Board's mission and strategic plans;
- As assigned, act as the first point of contact for media or public inquiries via the website, advising and coordinating responses accordingly;
- Direct the work of communications support staff; and
- Foster effective relationships with internal and external partners.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Community College Diploma in communications or related field, with 3 years' experience in corporate communications, ideally in the public sector;
with a working knowledge of marketing in a digital world, graphic design and web development best practices; - Advanced computer skills in both Mac and Windows environments;
- Demonstrated competency in Canva; Microsoft Office, Google Suite and other software as required;
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop would be an asset;
- Familiarity with website CMS administration – single and multisite;
- Superior written, editorial and verbal communications skills with ability to successfully multitask and meet tight deadlines;
- As required, periodic availability to attend meetings and events outside of regular working hours;
- Must possess a vehicle for travel within the district and a valid class “G” Ontario Driver's license; and
- Understanding of the public sector and educational issues would be an asset.
