The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Winder to join our Divisional Shops team in Sudbury, Ontario. Relocation will be required for this role.

This is a permanent on-site position working shift and supporting a 24-hour operation.

This posting is for an existing position vacancy.

As a Winder, you will be responsible troubleshooting and performing on-site repairs. Your experience and skills will contribute to scheduled or emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance work to be done in a shop environment.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Test, dismantle, repair, rewind, modify and assemble or overhaul armatures, stators, rotors, commutators and field coils for any size, type and style of A.C. and D.C. electric motors, generators, alternators, transformers and magnetic devices.
  • Complete breakdown, corrective and minor reports.
  • Inspect, examine and test parts in order to recommend the extent and nature of the work to be done.
  • Align with work safety policies and safety regulations.

About You Education:

  • Completion of a formal Apprenticeship program in Electrical Motor and Apparatus Rewinding and Repair is an asset and have graduated from related schooling.

Experience:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 4 years’ experience (apprenticeship).

Skills:

  • Troubleshooting, repair and rewinding of all types of AC Motors, both Mush, and Form coils.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of DC Motors and Generators.
  • Knowledge of transformers is preferred.
