Clinical Intake Specialist {OPSEU MH-26-036 }
About the role
Position: Clinical Intake Specialist Department: Mental Health & Addiction Coordinated Access Duration Approximately Twelve (12) Months
As a fundamental member of NBRHC’s Mental Health and Addiction Coordinated Access program, based in Sudbury at the NBRHC Kirkwood site, the Full Time Clinical Intake Specialist will work collaboratively with the Coordinated Access team to support referral submission and help navigate clients to the most mental health and addiction services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s University Degree in a human health science field/equivalent required; additional training and/or certification in Mental Health and Addictions an asset
- Registered Health Care Professional with current membership in good standing with a regulated governing body (e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Etc.) required
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent relevant clinical experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use health related concerns required
- Certificate and applied skills in the Recovery Philosophy required
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated clinical competence, leadership and applied inter-collaborative skills to promote, facilitate and integrate best practice principles in holistic mental health and addictions required
- Demonstrated cultural awareness & safety in working with diverse populations and care partners required
- Demonstrated excellence in clinical-reasoning, critical thinking skills, assessment, documentation, intervention and care planning skills required
- Demonstrated quality professionalism in oral, written & interpersonal communication skills among regional care partners to convey essential clinical and systems information required
- Commitment to health promotion & prevention, quality improvement and change initiatives to actively contribute to critical program evaluation and relevant research projects required; Lean Training/Certifications an asset
- Ability to function collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and skilfully prioritize competing workload responsibilities in a self-direct manner required
- Expert knowledge of Community Support Services, Primary Health Care and Mental Health System Resources & Partners and Consent & Capacity legislation (e.g. Public Guardian Trustee, Substitute Decision Maker Act, Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, Long-Term Care Act, PHIPA) required
- Progressive computer literacy skills, including adept electronic documentation skills and ability to navigate various electronic platforms (e.g. OTN) and software (e.g. Zoom etc.) required
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse events in this organization required
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario
NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
