About the role

Job Description Reporting to Clinical Lead for Entry to School (ETS), the Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing consultation on skill development (skills that fall under the occupational therapy domain) to ETS clinicians/teams for children receiving ETS services. In addition, the ETS OT will support Foundational Family Services (e.g., parent education, brief behavioural consultation) and other service streams as needed and when ETS capacity allows.

Hourly salary range: $38.92/hr CAD- $48.65/hr CAD. Compensation is negotiable and will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications.

  • Please note this position is only 2 days per week.*

Areas of Direct Responsibilities include:

  • Consultation - provide individualized in-person OT consultation to ETS clinical team for clients participating in ETS services ; skill development areas include but are not limited to self-care, group and independent play, emotional regulation, sensory processing, and school routines/school readiness; may require some informal assessment to identify needs, strengths, and appropriate strategies.
  • Report writing – contribute summary of OT recommended strategies to ETS report.
  • Travel – travel to and from ETS locations as required (all consultation is in-person).
  • Consultation, Education (non ETS services) – develop, present parent education sessions, provide team and individual client consultation, provide other support as needed to non ETS services

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree - Requires completion of Master's degree or equivalent .

Experience:

  • 1-5 years; Some practical or position related experience required .

Additional Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Canadian Occupational Therapy Program or successful completion of Canadian OT certification exam process.
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
  • Membership in Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists or Ontario Society of Occupational Therapists is an asset.
  • Must have a minimum of one year work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience in assessing and working with a pediatric clientele, with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder is necessary; familiarity with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and mental health experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently in a direct and consultative model, as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team is essential.
  • Experience with current outcome measures such as The Sensory Profile 2, Peabody Developmental Motor Skills, Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration, and the McMaster Handwriting Assessment.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • An ability to be flexible and responsive in delivering services.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience, proven communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Some travel may be necessary.
  • Knowledge concerning cultural diversity and proficiency in other languages will be considered assets for this position.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening).
