RATE OF PAY:              AS PER SCHEDULE ‘A” – UNIFOR 2458 ENGINEERS

COLLECTIVE                                        AGREEMENT

HOURS OF WORK:     SHIFT WORK REQUIRED

The University of Windsor is situated on the traditional territory of the Three

Fires Confederacy of First Nations: the Ojibwa, the Odawa, and the Potawatomie.

place in the 100-mile Windsor-Essex peninsula and the straits – les détroits – of Detroit.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

Reporting to the Chief Operating Engineer and / or their Designate, the 3rd Class Assistant Engineer is responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Centre, first call response to campus wide service requests and to monitor and control campus HVAC, steam, chilled/hot water, compressed air and alarms utilizing DDC and BMS systems.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

1.    Assist in the operation and maintenance of the Energy Conversion Centre.  2.    Respond to service requests and record by completing a blank Work Order. 3.    Make adjustments and or minor repairs to HVAC equipment. 4.    Operate and monitor all building equipment utilizing the DDC and BMS control systems. 5.    Perform chemical tests and treatment of cooling tower, pool and closed loop systems and make adjustments to maintain levels within required operating parameters. 6.    Minor preventative and emergency corrective maintenance of HVAC, steam/condensate lines and associated equipment. 7.    Perform rounds, which may include testing, recording of readings and making adjustments within required operating parameters. 8.    Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have:

  • An Ontario Secondary School diploma
  • A valid 3rd Class Operating Engineers Certificate, certified by the Province of Ontario
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience with maintenance, power plant operations, water chemical treatment, HVAC and services distribution systems, DDC and BMS control systems.
