Pinchin is seeking an Engineer / Senior Engineer, Building Envelope to join our Building Science and Resiliency team in British Columbia. The role reports to the Operations Manager.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will support and lead building envelope assessment, design, rehabilitation, and restoration projects throughout British Columbia. This role involves technical investigations, project delivery, client interaction, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality consulting services.

Your Role and Action

  • Conduct building envelope assessments and investigations for existing buildings including roofing, exterior walls, windows, balconies, waterproofing systems, and parking structures.
  • Perform condition assessments, leak investigations, invasive testing, and rehabilitation reviews.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, drawings, and rehabilitation recommendations.
  • Assist with the design and delivery of restoration and renewal projects.
  • Carry out construction reviews and contract administration services to ensure quality standards and design intent are achieved.
  • Support project management activities including budgeting, scheduling, scope management, and coordination with clients and contractors.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, client meetings, and business development activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Building Science, Structural, MEP, Environmental, and Sustainability groups.
  • Support QA/QC initiatives and maintain technical standards within the group.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned.

What You’ll Bring to Pinchin

The right candidate combines strong technical capability with curiosity, accountability, and a desire to grow within the Building Envelope field. You are collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering technical excellence and exceptional client service.

  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Civil, Structural, Architectural, Building Envelope, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional designation such as P.Eng. registered or eligible for registration with EGBC is considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in building envelope consulting, restoration, rehabilitation, or building science projects.
  • Strong understanding of building enclosure systems including roofing, cladding, glazing, balconies, waterproofing, and parking structures.
  • Experience with assessment, design, rehabilitation, and restoration consulting projects for existing buildings.
  • Knowledge of construction documents, specifications, contract administration, and construction review processes.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, specifications, and rehabilitation recommendations.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and restoration best practices.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and project coordination skills.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and technical drawing review is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout British Columbia.
