Location: London, Ontario (Relocation Required)

Design & Certification Engineering Interns report to the Manager, Design Engineering, and are responsible for assisting the design engineering staff with scientific research, product development, and certification activities related to Diamond’s existing and new aeronautical products.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Design Engineering staff as required in completing assigned tasks related to airframe / system stress, aircraft loads, dynamics and flutter, materials and processes
  • Support the development and implementation of type design and/or manufacturing process changes to improve the quality, safety, and performance of Diamond’s aeronautical products

Main Activities:

  • Investigate engineering change requests, support specialists in the classification of type design changes
  • Assist in the preparation of certification plans for changes to type designs or new aeronautical products
  • Assist in the preparation of test plans, analysis reports, design reviews and other substantiating documents
  • Assist in the preparation of flight test change orders for test aircraft modifications or installations
  • Participate in testing activities (ground & flight), assist in the preparation of test reports
  • Assist in the preparation of compliance reports to document regulatory compliance
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering, material, and process specifications
  • Preparation of design data in support of type design changes or new product designs
  • Participate in research and development activities as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with CAD software such as CATIA V5, AutoCAD / DraftSight, Solid Edge, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Assets:

  • Familiarization with the Airworthiness Manual Chapter 523 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Private Pilot Licence

Academic Requirements:

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in structural / aerospace engineering from an accredited University
