About the Position
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Structural Engineer specializing in Port & Marine structures to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and overseeing the construction of wharfs, piers, and floating structures. This role requires a professional with 7-13 years of relevant work experience who can lead complex projects from conception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze complex port and marine structures, including wharfs, piers, jetties, breakwaters, and floating structures
- Develop detailed structural calculations and drawings using advanced engineering software
- Conduct site investigations and surveys to assess existing structures and propose improvements or repairs
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates for port and marine projects
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, geotechnical engineers, and environmental specialists
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international codes and standards relevant to marine structures
- Perform structural integrity assessments and risk analyses for existing port facilities
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges in the marine environment
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout project lifecycles
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in port and marine engineering
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering; Master's degree preferred
- Professional Engineering (P.Eng) license
- 7-13 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on port and marine structures
- Proven expertise in the design of wharfs, piers, and floating structures
- Strong knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g., ASCE, Eurocode, BS)
- Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, RISA)
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Microstation) and 3D modeling tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative engineering solutions
- Strong project management and leadership abilities
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings
This role can be base anywhere in BC
