About the role

CONTEXT The Town of Mount Royal is seeking a Communications Officer with strong expertise in visual and multimedia content creation to support the organization’s visibility, both online, on digital platforms, and during public events.

NATURE OF THE POSITION Under the authority of the Communications Department, the incumbent carries out communication mandates primarily focused on graphic, visual, and digital production, while contributing to the Town’s brand image and institutional communications.

Main Responsibilities Content Creation and Multimedia

  • Design and produce visual communication tools (brochures, posters, promotional documents, web visuals).
  • Take photographs and videos at municipal events.
  • Edit video content intended for the web (including YouTube).
  • Perform image and video processing and optimization (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere).

Graphic Design and Layout

  • Ensure document layout in accordance with the Town’s graphic standards.
  • Develop visual grids consistent with the brand image.
  • Supervise, when required, the work of external graphic designers.

Web and Digital Media

  • Participate in updating the municipal website and publishing online content.
  • Contribute to the management and animation of the Town’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  • Upload audio and video recordings of Town Council meetings.
  • Participate in monitoring web and social media statistics (e.g., Google Analytics).

Support to Departments and Cross-Functional Projects

  • Collaborate with various municipal departments to disseminate information.
  • Contribute to the preparation and logistical support of public consultations and events.
  • Participate in managing and updating citizen communication platforms (alerts, newsletters, automated systems).
  • Contribute to the organization and structuring of a visual and audiovisual documentation centre.

Other Responsibilities

  • Draft various simple communication documents.
  • Perform any other related communication duties.

PROFILE SOUGHT Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or another relevant field;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications;
  • Excellent command of Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere;
  • Experience in graphic design, video editing, and digital content production;
  • Excellent command of French and English*, both spoken and written;
  • Good knowledge of social media and web environments.
  • Knowledge of English is a requirement due to possible interactions with the Town’s residents.
