NAC is currently seeking a Labourer to join our Pump Station project in the Ottawa South Area.

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Civil Superintendent, the Labourer plays a crucial role in the successful completion of construction projects. Individuals will be heavily involved in the construction process and perform tasks involving physical labour for heavy construction projects, including site preparation, maintenance, demolition and building of construction materials.

Job Description:

  • Concrete demolition, preparation for concrete finishing
  • Minor carpentry work (handrail maintenance, formwork for grout placement)
  • Perform site preparation and general site clean up duties
  • Material handling, management, and tracking.
  • Chipping hammer use
  • Bush hammering
  • Engage in all forms of labouring to assist in the successful completion of construction projects from start to finish
  • Assist carpenters and various other trades as necessary

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in the heavy construction industry preferred
  • Carpentry skills are an asset
  • Concrete demolition experience
  • Ability to take and follow instructions
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience working at heights
  • Possess leadership qualities
  • Excellent attendance and attitude
  • Knowledge of safe operation of power tools
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Valid WHMIS and Working at Heights required
  • Confined Space training is an asset
