The Material Handler is responsible for a variety of duties including picking and packing product, inspecting merchandise for quality assurance and replenishment for order picking fulfillment. Other responsibilities include cross docking and inventory maintenance. They may be required to work in various areas including ecomm, regroupings, ticketing, write-offs, general maintenance, offload/sort receiving, load shipping trucks, putaway and transporting. This facility is a 24 hour / 7 days a week operation.

Night Shift: 11:00p.m. – 7:30a.m. (S – Th)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform general labour and material handling duties.
  • Using RF Technology, pick customer orders in a timely manner from a pick list
  • Ensure order picking accuracy and on-time delivery of all orders
  • Pack orders and ensure they are complete, accurate, and ready for delivery, adhering to company’s quality standards
  • Read and match labels to product to ensure quality standards are met at each stage. Verify that Sku / similar named product, quantity and correct product codes are on package.
  • Understand all shipping documentation, including pick slips, packaging details, shipping labels to ensure orders are accurate.
  • Pack orders in a space efficient manner
  • Report any discrepancies or damages to the Supervisor.
  • Pick and put away pallets either manually using a pump truck in a safe and efficient manner onto pallets and on trailers.
  • Inspect all equipment and complete the daily inspection sheet before operation of any equipment.
  • Shrink wrap pallet to ensure cartons are transferred safely.
  • Practice safe stacking and securing of materials onto pallets. Ensure even distribution of pallets to prevent tipping.
  • Stack empty pallets as needed and adhere to all housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure internal and external customers’ requirements are met in an efficient, knowledgeable and professional manner
  • Maintain your work area in a safe and organized manner
  • Comply with Health and Safety policies, procedures and standards and with the OHSA.
  • Must be able to meet all productivity standards established by the company.
  • Work in all areas of the Distribution Centre, based on the needs of the business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, based on the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Previous warehouse experience, picking, packing and putaway.
  • Must have prior experience with using computers and possess basic computer skills
  • Must have previous experience using RF Guns.
  • Able to operate pallet jacks
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours in support of business needs, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, or overtime as required.
  • Must have high initiative, integrity and dependability to function effectively as a team player
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the position (able to lift up to 40 lbs)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • English comprehension and Mathematical skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and resolve issues effectively
