About the Position:

RWDI is seeking a SENIOR ACOUSTICAL ENGINEER with 8+ years’ experience to join our Acoustics team in Calgary, Alberta or Vancouver, British Columbia.

The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of relevant experience in acoustics. The successful candidate must have experience analyzing and resolving challenging architectural problems in a consulting environment and/or experience consulting in the Alberta/BC regulatory environmental noise industry.

Key Responsibilities

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Providing acoustic consulting for a wide range of projects.
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to more junior staff.
  • Helping resolve complex acoustic challenges in consultation with clients.
  • Taking a client-focused approach, where your technical skills support the success of your client’s projects.
  • Communicating complex technical information in straight-forward language, and guiding clients with actionable solutions

Conducting field measurements and reviews at commercial, residential, institutional, industrial and construction sites primarily around the Calgary or Vancouver area (depending on the location of the applicant).

  • Producing high quality, thoughtful analysis and reporting using commercially available software packages and in-house tools.
  • Taking ownership of timeline and budget to deliver a successful project from data acquisition through analysis, consulting, and reporting.
  • Adhering to a defined quality assurance process.
  • Active and frequent communication with project managers, clients, and others within the Acoustics team.
  • Providing proposal direction and review.

Note that this role does not involve project management. There are, however, opportunities to interact with clients and support the project management team.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or Master’s degree (preferred) in an applicable engineering discipline.
  • Current registration as a P.Eng. or ability to register with Alberta Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Association (APEGA) or BC Engineers and Geoscientists (EGBC) for a P.Eng. after gaining sufficient experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in an architectural acoustics or environmental noise consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with clients, and find mutually agreeable solutions
  • Knowledge of BC/Alberta provincial noise regulations
  • Availability to work in-person in our downtown Calgary or Vancouver office.
