ADST Teacher (Grades 8–12) – Full-Time or Part-Time
Location: Langley, BC
School: Whytecliff Agile Learning Centres (walc.ca)
Whytecliff Agile Learning Centres is seeking a creative, versatile ADST (Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies) Teacher for Grades 8–12. This is a rare opportunity to bring your skills, passions, and ideas into an environment that values hands-on learning, cross-curricular connections, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people.
About Us
Whytecliff is a BC Ministry of Education–accredited independent high school (Grades 8–12). Our welcoming, intimate campus feels more like a big home than a traditional school. With a close-knit team of 12 staff serving up to 56 students, we offer a calm, caring, and collaborative environment for youth with diverse learning needs—including anxiety, depression, ASD, dyslexia, and ADHD.
We integrate academics with Positive Youth Development, emphasizing mental health, social connections, and personal growth. Our strengths-based, person-centered approach has transformed many students’ lives. One student recently shared:
“Thank you for the best year of my life! I can’t wait to come back!”
Every year we create new opportunities shaped by both student interests and teacher strengths—launching clubs, building projects, and integrating learning across subjects to make education feel real and relevant.

About the Role
ADST at Whytecliff is wide open for creativity. Depending on your expertise, you might guide students through:
- Hands-on trades and design – woodworking, metalwork, textiles, engineering
- Digital skills – coding, robotics, app development, digital media design
- Innovation projects – design thinking, prototyping, entrepreneurship, or maker-space builds
We encourage cross-curricular projects, so you might work with colleagues to link ADST with science, art, math, or social studies. There’s also potential to take on other electives or provide tutoring and mentoring beyond ADST, depending on your skills and interests.
This is an opportunity to shape the program around your strengths while helping youth explore new ideas, discover their capabilities, and see their projects through from concept to completion.
Who We’re Looking For
You have a Bachelor of Education (or relevant degree) and valid BC Teacher certification (or eligibility).
More importantly, you are:
- Kind, creative, and genuinely caring.
- Skilled at connecting with youth and drawing out their ideas.
- Excited by hands-on, project-based, and experiential learning.
- Flexible and open to tailoring projects around student interests.
- A collaborative team member who enjoys contributing to a supportive, innovative environment.
A valid driver’s license is preferred.
