What would my role be?

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Accounting, you will:

  • Ensure the accuracy of the three-way matching process by comparing purchase orders, invoices, and goods receipts before processing the invoice for payment.

  • Audit authorized invoices and accounting data for compliance with accounting controls.

  • Enter accounts payable information into the accounting software, ensuring all invoices are correctly encoded for tax purposes following Provincial and Federal regulations.

  • Allocate and distribute expenses to the correct accounts using spreadsheets and formulas.

  • Work on related documents for weekly/monthly payments preparation.

  • Carry out all other related tasks and provide support for the Accounts Payable Service and the Finance Department.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • College diploma in business administration or other related field or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience in accounts payable with increasing responsibilities using accounting software.

  • Experience in recording and processing financial transactions using a computer within deadlines and with close attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Experience working with computer programs and software including Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets, formulas, tables), accounting software, accounts payable module, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Acrobat PDF reader.

Preferred:

  • Bookkeeping experience would be considered an asset.

  • Fluent in French and English

What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?

  • Demonstrated ability to record and process financial transactions using a computer within deadlines, paying close attention to accuracy and detail.

  • Technical knowledge of financial transactions and accounts payable processes.

  • Strong ability with mentally sorting, organizing, or visualizing processes.

  • Effective oral/written communication skills in both official languages, with courteous and efficient telephone/email manners.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively without detailed verification of accuracy by a manager.

  • Able to work under stress.

  • Able to manage a large volume of electronic documentation (approximately 10,000 documents per year).

  • Able to regularly manage time pressures and address external and internal inquiries with a service-based approach.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem resolution skills, and organizational skills to effectively address multiple demands.

  • Critical thinking, initiative, problem-solving, and analytical acumen.

  • Able to maintain confidentiality.

  • Judgment in priority-setting in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
