Position Summary Mental Health Clinician, Adult Mental Health Outpatient Program As a Mental Health Clinician, you will be a member of an interdependent multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for providing client-centered assessments, short term structured counselling and support services for individuals and groups. You’re a great relationship builder, and foster close contacts with peers across the entire organization. You have great interpersonal skills, and effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will
- Provide individual and group counselling to clients in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Brief Structured therapies.
- Provide Anger Management group counselling.
- Support and adhere to Hospital and appropriate College policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative duties (i.e., record keeping, data collection, etc.).
- Participate in the education of staff, students and the larger community as agreed upon with manager.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of effective linkages with the Hospital and the mental health services, Family Physicians, etc.
- Attend relevant committees/staff meetings.
- Conduct in-depth intake and initial assessments of clients and their systems using a wide-range of measurement tools and sources of information. Documentation as per College and hospital standards.
- Maintain client charts, statistics and other related client and workload measurement documents according to NYGH policies. Access, coordinate and advocate for services/resources to meet client needs.
- Consult with other service providers to promote continuity of care for the client.
- Participate in research and evaluation activities.
- Provide supervision to students
- Work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or related discipline.
- Current membership in a Regulated Professional College or equivalence.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in mental health.
- Experience with providing CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Brief therapies
- Effective knowledge and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to set priorities, organize and coordinate activities.
- Demonstrate clinical competence.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with hard to serve clients

This is a Part Time Regular position with 8 hour shifts, day shifts, in the Adult Mental Health Outpatient Program.
