Reporting to the Recycling Location Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, coordinating the movement of scrap throughout the facility and driving continuous improvement initiatives within the Recycling Yard Operations.

Duties:

The successful candidate's primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure proper placement, tracking and inventory control of all incoming and outgoing scrap materials
  • Supervise scrap yard personnel to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant handling of all scrap materials entering and exiting the Yard
  • Diagnose equipment breakdowns and implement appropriate corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Ensure proper operation and optimal utilization of equipment to prevent damage and reduce repair costs
  • Maintain full accountability for the performance management of all Winnipeg Yard employees including training, scheduling, performance evaluations, payroll and disciplinary or corrective actions as required
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act & Regulations, Manitoba Employment Standards and all other applicable legislation

Preference will be given to candidates with 5 -7 years experience in a Recycling environment with related Shipping experience and excellent communication skills. Previous supervisory experience is a requirement.
