About the role
Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive development. The ideal candidate will create a warm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that encourages exploration, builds confidence, and fosters a love of learning in each child.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement daily activities and learning experiences that align with early childhood education best practices and curriculum guidelines.
- Promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through play-based and structured learning.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Observe, document, and assess each child?s progress and share updates with families during conferences and informal check-ins.
- Support children in developing self-regulation, conflict resolution, and social interaction skills.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and licensing requirements.
- Work collaboratively with other educators and participate in team planning and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or equivalent.
- Must be registered in good standing with college of ECE.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Criminal record check with vulnerable sector clearance.
- Experience working with preschool-aged children in a group setting.
- Strong knowledge of preschool developmental stages and curriculum approaches.
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
- Must be familiar with and Implementation of How Does Learning Happen document.
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Experience with emergent curriculum, Montessori, or play-based learning environments.
- Familiarity with documentation practices such as learning stories or portfolios.
- Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs.
