About You / What We Are Looking For
Are you looking to kick-start your career in Human Resources? The City of Coquitlam is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Clerk to join our team on an auxiliary basis. If you are looking for an opportunity to get your foot in the door within a municipal HR environment, this is the opportunity for you!
About the Role:
As a Human Resources Clerk, you will provide general clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources team, assisting with administrative tasks in areas such as organizational development and training and labour relations. Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the coordination and logistics of employee training sessions, leadership programs, staff engagement initiatives, and related events, including coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
- Monitoring and responding to general HR and learning-related inquiries through shared inboxes.
- Supporting communications related to HR programs and learning opportunities on internal City platforms.
- Updating and maintaining training records and performing general data entry into the City’s HRIS (PeopleSoft) and other tracking systems.
- Providing administrative support related to labour relations processes, including maintaining records, preparing documentation, and coordinating meetings.
- Processing invoices and purchase orders and supporting financial tracking.
- Providing general administrative support to the HR team (e.g., filing and record-keeping) and assisting with special projects as required.
Hours will be based on operational needs, approximately 21-28 hours per week (4 days per week).
What We Are Looking For:
We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual with a strong sense of initiative who is interested in gaining experience in Human Resources within a growing and dynamic City. This role offers an opportunity to further develop administrative skills while supporting a variety of HR functions. Our ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.

Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

High attention to detail, diligence, and accuracy in administrative tasks.

The ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive files and information.
Minimum Requirements:

A valid BC Driver’s License and full-time access to a vehicle is required
-
A degree or diploma in Business Administration, Commerce, Human Resources Management, or a related field; candidates currently enrolled in such a program will also be considered

At least 1 year of administrative experience, ideally in HR
-
Experience working in a municipal or unionized environment, and/or working towards a CPHR designation is considered an asset
What We Offer:
This excluded position has a salary range starting at $30.35/hour + 12% in lieu. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
