Key Accountabilities

Job Title

Important Tasks / Activities / Outcomes

Safety & Supervision

  • Demonstrate proper safety awareness and understand and mitigate safety concerns in the field.

  • Oversee daily tailgate meetings to enhance safety protocols.

  • Oversee safety documentation including, but not limited to, job safety analyses, risk assessments, and equipment and workplace inspections.

  • Supervise and train geology interns, Geologists-in-Training, and field support staff, ensuring their effective contribution to project objectives.

Surveying & Prospecting

  • Plan and execute geochemical and (rarely) geophysical surveys and prospecting activities.

Core Processing & Drill Supervision

  • Supervise geological core processing, including geotechnical logging, geological logging, sampling, core photography, specific gravity measurements, core cutting, and sample shipping in collaboration with Geologists-in-Training, Geotechnicians, and other P.Geos or Project Managers on-site.

  • Supervise drilling activities, including drill site setup, progress tracking, and ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Mapping, Interpretation & Quality Assurance

  • Provide strong geological mapping and interpretation, contributing to the overall understanding of project sites.

  • Ensure the quality of data captured during programs meets company standards and the ethical standards of applicable regulating bodies.

Project Management & Reporting

  • Project and deliverable management of field programs and office-based tasks.

  • Oversee GITs in project preparation, logistics, and updating budgets.

  • Generate targets using collected field data (often also conducted in the field).

  • Oversight of data acquisition, data compilation, and report writing.

  • Data validation and interpretation for input into geological models.

  • Provide support to GITs in drafting assessment and technical reports and maps.

  • Analyze and interpret written reports for sign-off.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or satisfying the Geoscientists Canada’s Knowledge and Experience guide

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years prior experience in mineral exploration or related field.

Designations & Certifications

  • Professional Geologist (P.Geo) with APEGA, OGQ or other provincial legislative body, in good standing.

  • Standard First Aid and CPR level C.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Able to make independent decisions on projects.

  • Understand the risks and consequences of project decisions.

  • Good understanding on exploratory drilling programs.

  • Familiarity and application of the Dahrouge Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Plan and the Professional Practice Management Plan (must be reviewed and signed during orientation).

Working Conditions

Fieldwork

  • Exposure to harsh weather, challenging terrain, and potential hazards like wildlife and adverse conditions.
  • Geotechnical core logging requires lifting up to 60 lbs and sustained concentration.

Office Work

  • Generally controlled, with occasional pressure, particularly around deadlines.
  • Minimal hazards, but discomfort may arise from extended computer use.

Overall

  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to protocols and PPE in the field.
  • Hazard exposure varies by project and season, requiring adaptability.
  • Clear communication is essential for safety and team support.
