The Product Manager Principal serves as the critical bridge between product strategy and technical execution. This individual is responsible for defining the product vision while also designing the solution architecture to bring that vision to life, ensuring customer needs are met with solutions that are robust, scalable, and built for the future.

This role involves defining product strategies, identifying growth opportunities, and leveraging market research and customer insights to expand market share. A key responsibility is translating these business and customer needs into a cohesive and scalable solution architecture. It requires conducting in-depth market analysis, developing business cases, and collaborating with research and development teams to conceptualize and validate product ideas.

Furthermore, this position will be responsible for:

  • Creating detailed technical blueprints and architectural designs that guide the engineering team.
  • Evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and frameworks to ensure the long-term viability and performance of the product.
  • Overseeing the development process to ensure it aligns with the defined architecture and business goals.
  • Serving as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, communicating complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Assessing and mitigating technical risks related to the product's design and implementation.

As a strategic and deeply technical role, it demands meaningful experience in both product management and solution architecture to align market needs with business objectives and ensure the resulting product is robust, scalable, and secure.

This role is a minimum of 3-days per week in Zebra's Mississagua, Ontario, Canada office. Responsibilities:

  • Translates anticipated market and customer requirements into technical specifications, architectural blueprints, and a cohesive product vision.
  • Drives the growth and business success of the assigned solution by defining a robust and scalable architecture that supports the product from inception to end-of-life.
  • Guides the overall product strategy while also defining the core technical strategy, ensuring development plans are aligned with the architectural vision.
  • Conducts ongoing reviews of the competitive environment, analyzing not just features, but also the underlying technology stacks, architectural approaches, and technical differentiators of competitors.
  • Collaborates with marketing teams to translate complex technical and architectural advantages into clear, compelling value propositions for product promotion.
  • Acts as the technical authority in support of the Sales organization, leading architectural discussions and explaining the solution's technical merits to key customers and partners.
  • Serves as the central bridge between business stakeholders (end users, sales, marketing) and technical teams (engineering, support), ensuring the architectural design perfectly aligns with market requirements.
  • Travel as needed to engage with customers for discovery, lead technical deep-dive sessions with strategic partners, and represent the product's technical vision at industry events.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS of Engineering or related fields including Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or Industrial Design.
  • Or equivalent work experience overseeing product managers or leading cross-functional teams.
  • Minimum 12+ years’ experience, including at least 3 years overseeing product managers in related discipline or technology industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree desired
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with strong ability to interact with customers
  • Highly creative with ability to think strategically and develop strategic/business plans

Key Skills And Competencies

  • Strong communication skills including written, verbal and oral presentation skills as well as ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management, managers, clients and customers.
  • Ability to assess complex market landscapes and create focused, integrated product plans

Attention to detail, and strong understanding of complex products and systems

  • Deep understanding of financial concepts including P&L, balancessheets, and ROI models with delivery of product through defined objectives
  • Multi-task and manage complex programs
  • Advanced market knowledge in assigned product vertical, category or technology or solutions
  • The successful candidate will be a self-starter; this individual must be adaptable, persuasive, tenacious and perceptive and be able to execute a well developed plan.
  • Strong planning and execution skills
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates good judgement in decision making, applies knowledge and experience to guide decisions Strong business acumen
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft business applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
