SCOPE
Reporting to the Manager, International Projects, the incumbent will, in consultation with the Manager, promote opportunities for international projects, support the development of initiatives and coordinate the necessary resources for researchers and research networks to carry out those projects. They will cultivate a thorough understanding of the research being undertaken at the University and will remain apprised of global best practices relevant to their work, ensuring that international initiatives are effectively aligned with institutional priorities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor international research, development and collaboration calls in light of institutional priorities and advise on appropriate projects for development; Research, identify, and promote sources of funding and opportunities for international research, development and collaboration for individual projects and participation in large international research networks.

• Advise faculty members and research groups on achieving their international research and collaboration goals. They provide thoughtful and practical recommendations on funding opportunities, and project development, supporting researchers at all stages of their projects. All guidance is provided in alignment with the University’s international research priorities and under the direction of the Manager, International Projects.

• Provide support to faculty members in responding to funding calls, developing proposals, liaising with funding agencies, identifying strategic partners, reviewing proposals and ensuring compliance with calls.

• Assist the Manager in evaluating areas of strategic interest for the unit and University and elaborating corresponding plans. They provide research, analysis, and recommendations to support decision-making, ensuring that initiatives align with institutional priorities and contribute effectively to the University’s international research and collaboration objectives.

• The incumbent organizes and delivers information sessions, workshops, and other events related to international funding, research, development, and outreach opportunities. These activities are designed to support faculty members and research groups in identifying and pursuing appropriate international initiatives, while ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and under the guidance of the Manager, International Projects.

• Assist researchers (including student researchers) participating in faculty-initiated projects on campus or abroad, Act as a resource person throughout the duration of their participation in projects.

• Other duties in support of the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and two to four years of full-time work experience in research administration or project coordination with government, industry, university, philanthropy, granting council and/or a project office related to international research and/or development. Master’s degree an asset.

• Experience drafting funding applications and liaising with faculty members, internal and external stakeholders. Experience in faculty relations or academic personnel management an asset.

• Demonstrated knowledge of university research and international development environments.

• Knowledge of financial and budgetary processes related to international research and development projects, including the ability to prepare, track, and report budgets and in-kind contributions. The incumbent works in collaboration with the University’s Finance Department to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective management of project resources.

• Knowledge and established contacts with national and international funding agencies an asset.

• Very good spoken and written English (Level 5) in order to write proposals, to communicate with faculty members, international partners, and internal units; good written and spoken French (Level 4) to order to communicate with external partners and write grant proposals. Fluency in a third language an asset.

• Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create documents, spreadsheets, budgets and presentations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence, tact, discretion and judgment to work effectively with academic researchers, international contacts, government representatives, and senior administrators

• Demonstrated ability to be autonomous, plan processes and manage projects within established deadlines and parameters

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask; ability to work in a team; attention to interpersonal service

• Experience drafting project proposals, including budgeting and evaluation

• Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and professional documents for internal and external audiences.
