General:

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the QA Coordinator is responsible for supervising the QA Technicians and QA Technologists and developing, managing and maintaining JD Sweid’s quality standards. This is a Mat cover for the duration of 12-18 months. Frequent interaction with internal stakeholders and external customers’ technical personnel are expected such that excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for the position. The successful candidate must have a minimum of two years of experience in a quality assurance role in a food processing facility, demonstrated team leadership skills and must be comfortable in administering compliance programs. The QA Coordinator is required to assist the QA Technologists in general QA duties weekly.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following list of duties and responsibilities of the QA Coordinator is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the job described. Rather they are intended only to describe the general nature of the job.

  • Supervise QA Technicians and QA Technologists

  • Develop, update and manage the training program for QA Technicians, QA Technologist and the overall quality program

  • Oversee scheduling of QA Technicians and QA Technologists.

  • Manage product specifications with customers’ technical representatives

  • Develop, update and maintain customers’ quality specifications

  • Administer quality programs in the plant.

  • Conduct monthly premise inspections and track resulting non-conformances.

  • Provide technical support to all functional groups on quality issues

  • Supervise/manage the customer complaints investigative process and reports.

  • Oversee the calibration and validation of production equipment as defined in the HACCP program.

  • Perform ongoing maintenance and implementation of online electronic QA database system.

  • Assist in internal and external audits; coordinate audit opening and closing meetings; collect and organize documentation from other departments; and work for closures of non-conformities.

  • Provide assistance and support to QA staff on product, line processes and data collection with database system.

  • Communicate with all departments to investigate and resolve issues, supporting continuous improvement standards.

  • Complete monthly customer reports and deliver data to customers via automation in a timely manner.

  • Analyze and trend quality data for management review. Audit quality data and act upon discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Review results from ingredients and finished product testing and assist with sampling and testing of incoming ingredients and finished products.

  • Complete risk assessments to analyze and evaluate risks associated with hazards.

  • Maintain product release and other records electronically.

  • Perform QA Technologist duties as needed.

  • Act as a back up to QA Technician as needed.

  • Other duties as directed.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of QA experience required, preferably in food industry
  • Understanding of Operation, HACCP, and Quality Assurance Systems.
  • Current HACCP/GFSI/Food Safety program certificate training preferred.
  • Strong supervisory skills and ability to work in a team setting or independently
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills, i.e. MS Excel
  • Detail orientated
  • Must be able to accomplish the sensory evaluations of all products
