The West Vancouver Community Services Department has an opening for a Casual After School Arts Instructor. This position will be responsible for:

  • Guiding, engaging and teaching children different styles of visual arts, must be open to teaching multiple techniques and mediums;
  • organizing and preparing different projects or workshops depending on the style of class being taught;
  • cleaning of the studio and equipment before and after teaching;
  • explaining the registration process and community centres activities;
  • responding to questions and raises concerns to the supervisor who refers parents/families to community resources; and, other related duties as required.

This role will require availability on weekdays (3:00 – 7:00 p.m.) in the Winter term (January - March) and the Spring Term (April - June).

The successful candidate will have experience and/or training in visual arts and experience teaching or working with school age children & potentially youth. Previous teaching experience will be considered an asset. Having a vehicle and being open to working at various Community Sites will also be preferred, as this position will be required to work out of the West Vancouver Community Centre & The Gleneagles Community Centre.

The successful candidate will also be required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work:

Days and hours of work may vary

Must be available weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. during the Winter term and Spring Term.

Rate of Pay:

$26 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits

This position offers a competitive wage based on experience and qualifications
