Tenure-Track Position in Operations Management Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University Position Summary McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management invites applications for one Assistant Professor tenure-track position in the Operations Management (OM) Area. The start date for the position is August 1, 2027. The position is open to candidates with a Ph.D. in any area of specialization in Operations Management, particularly in the field of data analytics related to operations management or operations research topics (e.g., revenue management, supply chain management, sustainable operations, big data, etc.), as well as to applicants demonstrating outstanding potential who are doctoral students in those fields and plan to have completed the requirements for their Ph.D. by December 2027. We have a particular interest in candidates with research and teaching focus in the Faculty priority areas of Analytics, AI & Advanced Digital Technologies; Innovation & Entrepreneurship; Sustainability; or Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. Successful candidates should have the ability to teach courses in data analytics such as data mining, machining/deep learning, predictive analytics, analytics programming and data visualization; and will demonstrate the ability to advance a cutting-edge, compelling and impactful research agenda. The ideal candidate will have evidence of effective teaching, an experience-appropriate record of research publications in high quality, peer-reviewed journals, and clear promise of conducting innovative and important research publishable in the top journals in Operations Management such as those listed on the Desautels 22. The OM Area is particularly interested in candidates whose expertise lies in data-driven research and welcomes all candidates from related disciplines including statistics, economics and computer/information science provided there is significant OM component in the research. Successful candidates are also expected to work with doctoral students, to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs, and contribute to the administration of the Area and Faculty. The OM Area at Desautels brings together scholars specializing in analytics, operations management, operations research and statistics. The Faculty offers business analytics concentrations both at the undergraduate and MBA levels. The OM Area is also engaged in the Master in Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management (GMSCM) program and the Master of Management Analytics (MMA) Program. The former is a joint program with Zhejiang University in China with significant industry involvement, whereas the latter is a multidisciplinary pre-experience Master’s degree featuring experiential learning in the field of business analytics. The Bensadoun School of Retail Management, a significant initiative within Desautels Faculty of Management, offers academic programs from the undergraduate to the PhD levels with input from global retailers, conducts research on the fast-changing sector and features a retail innovation lab to test out new ideas, technologies and products within an academic setting. Members of the Area are also affiliated with CIRRELT or GERAD, which are among the most established research centres in North America.
