As an ideal candidate, a Labour Planner is a professional who has a broad knowledge of scheduling and managing labour assignments. In this pivotal role, this individual will provide workforce scheduling and support for seasonal operational peaks and valleys.

A successful Labour Planner will often demonstrate outstanding problem solving skills as employee absences can affect adequate coverage of staff schedules while satisfying production demands. The sense of urgency – acting quickly when analyzing production needs and balancing appropriate staffing is a primary duty of this role.

The successful Labour Planner should have strong communication and organizational skills in addition to being detail-oriented. Managing tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and remaining organized are critical elements of this role. While the ability to work independently is important, many duties require that a Labour Planner work with others in a team environment. This individual would be a key member in contributing to a productive, engaged, and positive work environment.

This individual will report directly to the Human Resource Business Partner and the Human Resource Manager.

Must be able to work rotating days, afternoons and night shifts as required with occasional and seasonal weekends.

MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Creating a schedule on a continental rotation structured around peak and off-peak production staffing needs of upwards of 200+ employees, ensuring equality and fair distribution of working hours.
  • Strategically plan with department leadership to ensure adequate staffing levels are met, including impromptu sanitation schedules.
  • Handle coverage for absences and ensure replacements are sourced in a timely manner.
  • Process approved Packaging and Bulk Production employee vacation requests by strategically electing a replacement, optimizing and aiding in shift operation efficiency.
  • Liaison with departments providing resources, support, and communication of key details and changes.
  • First point-of-contact for employees who have inquiries related to the schedule.
  • Field incoming calls and direct them to the proper department/individual.
  • Timely responses to phone calls, emails, faxes, and other internal and external communication sources.
  • Attend daily and weekly labour related meetings and participate in participate in sharing ideas, important details, forecasting, etc.
  • Greeting and guiding guests and visitors to the facility while following the on-site visitor’s process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven knowledge of Business Administration and experience with Scheduling in the manufacturing industry considered an asset.

  • Technological competencies in Google+ platforms (ex: Drive, Meet, Sheets, Slides, Docs, etc.), basic Harmony/UKG Pro, and Microsoft Office platforms (ex: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills with recordkeeping, filing, updating internal data, etc.

  • Proficiency in typing, note-taking, multitasking, and prioritizing various duties with precise attention to detail.

  • Working collaboratively in team-based atmosphere, contributing, and sharing ideas while encouraging others with a positive attitude and complete professionalism.

  • All forms of effective communication (written, verbal, and electronic) are critical in this role.

  • Must be available to work flexible hours from Sunday to Saturday, between 5:00am-19:00pm, including public holidays, totaling to 40 hours/week.

  • 1 - 2 years: Year experience of strategic employee schedule creation, planning, and replacement coverage.
