Position Overview Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Civil Designer in our growing Digital Delivery and Civil Production group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes roadway, drainage, utilities, structural, geotechnical, rail, and is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects throughout the country.

District Overview Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Our construction-focused engineering approach involves a multidisciplinary team working together to maximize value for clients by improving schedules, controlling costs, and minimizing risk on infrastructure projects. This integrated strategy emphasizes collaboration and constructability throughout the project lifecycle, enabling us to identify and implement quality solutions with a strong safety focus.

Location This position is based out of our Burnaby, BC office.

Responsibilities

  • In office work primarily
  • Work with engineering teams in developing preliminary and final design plans and details
  • Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations
  • Use MicroStation, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, OpenRoads Designer, Civil3D, and other civil engineering design software
  • Produce documents with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Follow various DOT Standards and work with companies’ CAD Standards when applicable
  • Development of civil engineering plans, profiles, specifications and estimates for transportation and other water resources projects

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in computer-aided design, 3D modeling, drafting, survey or similar program experience
  • 2+ years of experience in the computer-aided design, modeling or drafting field or experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (2D & 3D)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Civil 3D, Bentley InRoads, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, Revit is an advantage
  • General knowledge of engineering principles and materials for civil engineering work
  • Ability to comprehend civil engineering drawings
  • Capable of recognizing discrepancies with strong attention to detail
  • Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize
  • The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with team members

  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Base Compensation: $73,000/yr - $82,000/yr
