About the role

Permanent Full Time

Reporting to the Manager, Solution Design, Advice Canada Advisor Experience, the Instructional Design Specialist designs, develops, implements and maintains innovative learning solutions that build measurable capabilities and enable performance within our service partnerships. This includes but is not limited to onboarding, compliance, operational processes, practice management as well as product and technology education for a variety of key strategic initiatives within key audiences.

What you do

  • Partner with a unified learning delivery team of consultants, designers, facilitators and trainers to understand the learning needs and outcomes provided within the needs analysis.
  • Employ sound judgement in balancing instructional design principles with business requirements, prioritizing solutions that are appropriately scoped, efficient and timebound while maintaining a high-quality user experience.
  • Utilize command of visual, auditory, read/write and kinesthetic (VARK) learning modalities to ensure solutions promote an inclusive, enjoyable and effective learning experience.
  • Define measurable learning objectives aligned with project strategy and OKRs, and recommend engaging, innovative tactics that demonstrate learning impact within the target audience.
  • Collaborate on learning proposals and contracts by designing storyboards, production schedules, and tactical solutions that clearly convey concepts to a range of stakeholders.
  • Apply expertise in learning content production by independently executing subject matter expert (SME) meetings and interviews, conducting research across a wide range of source materials, and managing writing and review cycles to ensure timely delivery of learning tactics.
  • Leverage extensive expertise in learning design frameworks including ADDIE, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Backward Design and the 70:20:10 model to design effectively for the unique needs of the workplace learner.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of learning assessment methodologies, along with a proven ability to design testing and evaluation materials that accurately measure knowledge and skill transfer.
  • Showcase learning design mastery using advanced authoring software to create and deliver in a variety of formats including eLearning, whisper learning and microlearning modules, digital and multimedia learning experiences, simulations, interactive guides and contextual aids.
  • Display adaptability of practice by designing learner focused supportive educational materials including job aids, sales, process and coaching guides, presentation decks, speakers notes, quizzes and games for blended, virtual and collaborative instructor led experiences.
  • Support the maintenance, organisation, and continuous improvement of the digital content and file library, in alignment with established team processes.

What you will bring

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and designing learning tactics and programming for workplace learners, preferably in a corporate setting.

  • Post-secondary certification or degree in Adult Education, Workplace Learning, Instructional or E-learning design (greater experience vs. education will be considered).

  • A solid, proven understanding of the application of adult learning principles, taxonomies and methodologies.

  • High proficiency in the following authoring tools: Articulate 360 (Rise, Storyline), Camtasia Pro, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Vyond, Kahoot!, Clever Nelly, PowerPoint, MS Word and Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to: apply creative and innovative skills when solving problems and designing learning programs and resources, work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects in an agile production environment, and critically prioritize personal workflows with minimal supervision.

  • Track record of consultation and influence when working with others across corporate teams.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as solid organizational skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge and experience with accessibility best practices for instructional design, Cornerstone or Docebo LMS systems, authoring for DAP software (WalkMe) or AI driven intelligent tutoring systems.
  • Understanding of financial and investment products or terminology.
  • Employment or educational experience with Managing General Agencies, Financial or Investment sales or operations, CIRO Dealerships, Insurance, Mutual Funds or Securities.

The base salary for this position is between $52,800 - $ 97,700 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
