Your Opportunity
Stantec's Geotechnical and Materials Engineering Team is looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team in Dartmouth, NS. Under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, you will work closely with an experienced team of engineers and technicians to become part of our dynamic team, primarily performing advanced laboratory testing services. Our team provides conventional and advanced field and laboratory testing services for soil, rock, aggregate, concrete and asphalt.
Your Key Responsibilities
In this role you will have the opportunity to work with engineers and other technicians performing laboratory work including the following:
- Perform laboratory testing of soils, rock, aggregate, concrete and asphalt.
- Perform advanced laboratory testing on soils and concrete
- Communication with project managers regarding scope of services and schedule.
- Support maintenance, calibration, purchase, and certification of equipment.
- Maintain laboratory certifications for CCIL and CMEC.
- Mentoring, coaching and training of technical staff as required.
- Perform quality control reviews of laboratory testing and reporting.
- Promote safe work practices for laboratory activities.
- Other general office related duties.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
As the successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:
- Current registration with TechNova or Engineers Nova Scotia and hold designation as C.Tech., C.E.T., P.Tech.(Eng.)
- Have experience with laboratory soil, concrete, and asphalt testing procedures.
- CCIL Certification for soils, concrete, and asphalt would be and asset.
- Have knowledge of soil, concrete and asphalt sampling techniques and construction methodology.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Willingness to be a team player with a strong ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate initiative and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong focus on Health and Safety.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience.
Moderate lifting and traversing uneven ground will be required.
