Site Overview: This site is a industrial facility. It is monitored through a centralized Security Centre responsible for CCTV surveillance, access control, and alarm monitoring. Security personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, strong situational awareness, and strict adherence to established security procedures.
Position: Part Time Security Guard
Site: Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority, Hamilton
Hours: Saturday & Sunday (1500 - 2300)
Pay Rate: $19.44/hr
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is after Averaging Agreement (88hrs)

Essential Job Functions:
- Perform interior and exterior patrols in accordance with site procedures
- Monitor alarms and maintain situational awareness of all monitored areas and escalate issues as needed.
- Coordinate radio communications with on-site personnel and other departments.
- Dispatch resources and relay information during emergencies or incidents.
- Accurately log and document all communications and system activity.
- Identify and report security risks, safety hazards, and any suspicious activities.
- Provide professional, courteous assistance to employees, visitors, and clients.
- Support general inquiries and security-related requests.
- Maintain a customer-focused approach while upholding safety standards.
- Complete logs, reports, and incident documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist with investigations.
Requirements
- Knowledge of access control, CCTV, fire equipment and fire monitoring systems
- Proficiency in Computer literacy
- Ability to sit/stand and walk/climb stairs throughout the building & push min. 25lbs
- Minimum of one year of experience in a security role is required
- A Valid Ontario Security Guard License & First AID CPR C
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Customer Service Experience is considered an asset
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
