About the role

Job Description The Supervisor provides input and oversees the day-to-day planning of resources, maintenance activities, and assets required for the 24/7 operation. Reporting to the Manager, Terminal Operations, this role plays a key part in maintaining operational continuity by coordinating schedules, tracking maintenance plans, supervising the maintenance facilities team, and supporting compliance and safety processes that enhance team effectiveness and resiliency.

Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 7700 Hopcott Road, Delta. What You’ll Do

  • Resource planning for terminal operational teams in concert with sailing schedules and operational requirements.
  • Ensure all break fixes are addressed; tracked in NS5, and OEM’s respond to keep down time at minimal and reduce impact to the operation.
  • Supervise and support goals and objectives for the maintenance facilities coordinator team, track employee performance and productivity, using Intelex or other tracking methods.
  • Develops and delivers a central load planning program using various tools including the terminal operating system (TOS).
  • Accountable for the preventative maintenance program for terminal shunt trucks, and all other mobile equipment assets.
  • Reviews and approves the implementation of change requests by projects or maintenance and ensure no impact to the operation.
  • Ensures work instructions are current, and support compliance with required training programs.
  • Conducts daily and weekly terminal audits and share findings to identify and recommend corrective actions, and ensure terminal is always in a ready to operate state.
  • Participates in monthly terminal safety meetings and uses SMS to report hazards, incidents, supports incident investigation for root cause and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures operational teams are proficient with company’s response plans, during irregular operations and emergencies, and lead and support teams during such events.
  • Coordinates and supports goals and objectives for the teams, assists leaders in tracking employee performance and productivity, using Intelex or other tracking methods.
  • Monitors day-to-day operating expenses for terminal operations, contribute to budget planning by identifying facility upgrades for continued success of the business unit.
  • Supports planning and logistics for team events for the business unit teams.
  • Shift work and weekend work may be required to support the 24/7 operation.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in terminal operations, maintenance planning, or scheduling in a transportation or logistics environment.

  • Post-secondary education (minimum two years) in logistics, transportation, operations, asset management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Proven experience supervising front line employees.

  • Strong understanding of situational awareness and safety culture in an industrial shipping environment.

  • Exceptional critical thinking and confident decision-making during time sensitive and high-pressure situations.

  • Experience with tools such as NS5, Terminal Operating Systems (TOS), and audit or compliance tracking platforms.

  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills; this includes conflict resolution and active listening skills, and the ability to maintain diplomacy and integrity while representing Seaspan Ferries.

  • Must possess a valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods and First Aid level 1 certification.

  • Strong understanding and execution of:

  • Terminal Operating Manual.

  • Emergency Response Plan.

  • Business Continuity Plan.

The estimated salary for this position is $97,200 - $118,800 . In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
