SECURITY AND MOBILITY ASSISTANT MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY :

Recognized for the quality of its products and services, the Old Port of Montréal Corporation (OPMC) manages a vast recreational and tourism site at the crossroads of a city and its river. The Assistant Manager’s primary responsibility is to support the Manager, Security and Mobility, in overseeing human resources for the security and mobility teams in order to ensure a safe environment for people and property at both the Old Port of Montréal and the Montréal Science Centre.

The incumbent also fosters strong collaboration between the security and mobility teams with a focus on operational efficiency and maximizing parking revenue.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Human Resources Management (65%)

  • Manages, motivates, and develops team members in collaboration with a colleague (recruitment, performance evaluation, discipline, ongoing training, etc.), clearly communicates departmental expectations, provides direction, and ensures follow-up;
  • Coaches supervisors by establishing standards and guidelines for onboarding and training new employees;
  • Ensures optimal scheduling based on operational needs and budgets;
  • Ensures compliance with and application of the collective agreement, as well as company policies and procedures, including those related to occupational health and safety;
  • Reviews and approves weekly timesheets in the time management system, ensuring accuracy of hours worked, and supports supervisors in this process;
  • Ensures timely and effective communication of information required for the smooth operation of the department.

Operations Management (35%)

  • Oversees security and mobility operations;
  • Ensures optimal mobility across the Old Port site, focusing on maximizing parking revenue and ensuring safe coexistence among all users on and around the site;
  • Reviews incident reports and ensures quality standards are maintained; provides coaching to patrol officers and supervisors as needed;
  • Develops and implements tools and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations;
  • Participates in the development and revision of departmental policies and procedures and ensures their application;
  • Maintains an on-site presence by supervising operations during events;
  • Ensures proper operation and management of equipment and systems (cameras, fire systems, access control, etc.).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 3 years of experience in personnel managementExperience managing security operations
  • Experience in a unionized environment (asset)
  • University certificate in administration or a related field
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bilingualism: English (intermediate, Level 3)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid BSP (security guard) license
