Our headquarters in Kingsville, ON is currently seeking a NAV (ERP) Development Manager to join our team! The ERP Development Manager plays a critical role in leading the development team within our 7-person ERP group, designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise resource planning systems to support business operations. This role requires strong technical expertise in Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision), proficiency in development languages and testing methodologies, and the ability to lead and mentor developers. The ERP Development Manager collaborates with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into effective ERP solutions. They also contribute to the overall ERP strategy and drive continuous improvement in system functionality and performance. As the company evaluates its next-generation ERP platform, this role will be instrumental in leading the team through that transition.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of NAV developers, providing technical guidance and mentorship and fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • Establish and maintain development standards, code review processes, and best practices across the team.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the ERP strategy, aligning it with business objectives and driving continuous improvement.

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of ERP platforms, modules, add-ons, and third-party integrations to enhance system functionality.

  • Design, develop, and customize ERP solutions using Microsoft Dynamics NAV through coding, scripting, and configuration to address business requirements.

  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and analyze ERP system requirements, and provide technical expertise to guide system design and development.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system design specifications and configuration guides.

  • Perform system testing, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing, to ensure the quality and reliability of ERP solutions.

  • Identify and troubleshoot ERP system issues, providing timely resolutions and collaborating with cross-functional teams as necessary.

  • Collaborate with the IT infrastructure team to ensure the availability, scalability, and security of the ERP system and associated databases.

  • Develop and maintain integrations between the ERP system and other business applications (APIs, web services, EDI), ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability.

  • Assist in the implementation of ERP system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, following best practices and minimizing system downtime.

  • Optimize ERP system performance by identifying bottlenecks, implementing performance tuning techniques, and monitoring system resources.

  • Develop and maintain data migration processes, ensuring accurate and efficient transfer of data between systems.

  • Collaborate with business users to understand their reporting needs and develop customized reports and dashboards.

  • Support end-users in the effective utilization of the ERP system, providing training, documentation, and ongoing technical support.

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and security best practices in ERP system design, development, and maintenance.

Education/Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ERP development, with a focus on Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision).

  • Experience leading or mentoring developers.

  • Hands-on experience with NAV development tools, including C/SIDE, C/AL, and AL.

  • Strong knowledge of ERP system architecture, data models, and development frameworks.

  • Proficiency in SQL, with experience in data modeling, querying, and optimization.

  • Experience in designing and developing integrations between ERP systems and other applications using APIs, web services, and EDI.

  • Familiarity with ERP testing methodologies, including unit testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing.

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.

  • Experience in ERP system upgrades and version migrations.

  • Understanding of business processes across various functional areas, including finance, supply chain, warehouse, and manufacturing.

  • Experience with version control systems and code repository management tools.

  • Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and continuously enhance technical skills.

  • Food manufacturing, produce, or distribution industry experience is a plus.

  • Experience with other ERP platforms (D365 F&O, SAP, Oracle) is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment.

  • On-call and after-hours availability 24X7 to resolve technical incidents required.

  • May be required to work nights and weekends during un-planned outages and other special circumstances

Salary Range is $125K/yr CAD to $135K/yr CAD
