WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an Microbiology Laboratory Analyst I to join our Scientific team for an 18 Month contract ending on March 31, 2017. This is a full time contract opportunity based out of Fraser Head Office located in Toronto.
Schedule flexibility is required, with rotation that includes working Tuesday to Saturday every third month.
WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
- Conduct Microbial Limit Testing, Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing (AET), Preservative Efficacy test (PET), Pseudomonads testing per USP, EP, BP, TGA and internal procedure with minimal supervision.
- Prepare media, reagent, solution based on USP, EP, BP and/or internal procedure.
- Quality control checks on in-house prepared and commercially prepared media – Growth promotion testing, sterility checks, pH check.
- Operate Lab equipment such as pH meter, water activity meter, autoclave, Masterclave, dilumat, automated plate pourer, balance, biosafety cabinet, etc. and assist in the qualifications, maintenance and calibrations of the equipment.
- Sample and process environmental monitoring sampling and testing for: air, surfaces, water, equipment and personnel.
Perform Microbial Identifications and maintain stock cultures. - Ensure all testing is documented in the appropriate logbooks and hard copy records are completed in a timely manner.
- Adhere to appropriate quality measures to meet or exceed the standards set by GMP/GLP and company requirements relevant to assigned duties
- Provides guidance and support to the technicians as related to laboratory documentation.
- Manage inventory needs for laboratory materials and supplies.
- Ensures the laboratory is kept in a safe working environment and in compliance with EHS and biosafety standards.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or equivalent.
- 1 - 3 years of Microbiology Laboratory experience.
- Experience in manufacturing sites for cosmetics or pharmaceutical an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft suite, familiarity with LIMS and D365 is an asset.
- GMP/GLP trained and aseptic technique qualifications are an asset.
