About the role
Please note: This is a fully on-site role at our Markham office, 5 days per week.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Human Resources will lead core HR functions and foster a collaborative, people-focused culture to support Frontier’s growth. Key responsibilities include talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, employee relations, training, and compliance. As a strategic partner to leadership, the Director will guide HR strategy, develop policies, and lead workforce planning and recruitment during a period of rapid expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic HR Planning & Recruitment - Collaborate with the Management Team to align HR plans with business goals. Lead recruitment strategies, manage hiring processes and participate in senior-level selection.
- HR Policies & Compliance - Develop and implement HR programs, policies, and handbooks that reflect best practices. Ensure employee awareness and compliance with ethical standards and company policies.
- Talent & Performance Management - Oversee compensation, benefits, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Lead employee performance evaluations and recognition initiatives to foster motivation and productivity.
- Employee Development & Engagement - Identify development opportunities, coordinate training programs, and support leadership development.
- Promote employee engagement through targeted initiatives and support a healthy work environment.
- Employee Relations & Workplace Support - Provide coaching and support on workplace matters. Manage conflict resolution, conduct investigations, and maintain a positive employee relations environment.
- Health, Safety & Payroll - Serve on the Health and Safety Committee, ensure compliance with regulations, and oversee payroll and benefits administration.
- Continuous Improvement & Compliance - Stay up to date with HR trends, employment laws, and best practices to ensure ongoing improvement and legal compliance
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive HR management experience, ideally within a high-growth, entrepreneurial private company.
- Broad expertise across all core HR functions, including recruitment, talent management, employee relations, training, compensation, performance management, and payroll/benefits administration.
- Proven track record of partnering with business leaders and aligning HR strategies with company goals.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing effective HR policies, programs, and systems.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels.
- Leadership experience with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and a focus on employee engagement and performance.
- Solid knowledge of Canadian (particularly Ontario) employment laws; exposure to U.S. employment law and payroll is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and experienced with HRIS platforms and payroll providers such as Ceridian or ADP
