Position Summary

Senior Team Attendant, Operating Room, Surgery
Your goal in this position is to contribute to the organization and optimal function of the Perioperative Services. You will be responsible for contributing to patient flow by working with Perioperative Services health care team providing excellent patient and family-driven care. In addition, you will be carrying out portering/cleaning duties, maintaining supplies and equipment. This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Participate as a member of the interprofessional care team and maintain collaborative working relationship in the provision of supportive care in the Operating Room.
  • Provide patient-centered & direct patient care following the guidance of a regulated health care provider.
  • Demonstrate ability to write routine reports and correspondence in the English language.
  • Utilize effective communication skills with team members.
  • Provide feedback to nursing staff of patient requests/needs.
  • Communicate changing work priorities to co-workers.
  • Establish positive rapport with patients/families and team members.
  • Collaborate with centralized departments to obtain services, e.g., housekeeping/linen.
  • Have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • High School or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Completed Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from a College of Applied Arts and Technology, required.
  • Registered and in good standing with The Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
  • Related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience an asset.
  • Bilingualism in French/ English an asset.

This is a Part Time Regular position with 8 hour shifts, days, Evenings, Nights, including weekends in the Operating Room - Surgery Unit. We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which includes pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan.
