The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, Mail Services, located in Regina, is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Business Accountant, which reports to the Business Manager on a permanent full-time basis.
Mail Services is a program within Mail, Records & Telecommunications. This unit is responsible for handling about 10 million pieces of mail each year, stores approximately 250,000 boxes of government records and manages various telecommunication contracts. The Business Accountant will be organized, collaborative, and technically competent with the Microsoft Office suite (particular focus on Word, Access, and Excel) with strong accounting skills. This position requires attentiveness to detail, accuracy, organization, meeting tight deadlines and will participate in performing “smart audits” while developing processes for streamlining the mail services operation, as well as consulting with customers on current and evolving services and pricing modules. Ensuring appropriate financial/reporting methods are consistent with government and audit requirements is part of this position, as well as assisting in developing the annual budget. This position will also monitor the financial viability of regional locations and recommend service changes based on statistical data and will also share the responsibilities of the Copier and Multi-Functional Devices Program. The successful candidate will also assist in administering the revenue, receivables, payables and inventory of postal assets, and control/replenish postal inventory.
Mail Services requires the successful candidate to be flexible and able to work effectively both individually and as a team member to contribute to the overall success of SaskBuilds and Procurement.
As a Government of Saskatchewan employee, the successful candidate is required to acquire and maintain a working knowledge of ministry program standards, policies and expectations that pertain to the duties of this position.
