Auxiliary Part-Time ($35.47 - $38.07/per hour – 2024 Rates) Pay Grade 9
Oak Bay is a picturesque seaside community located within the Greater Victoria Region, with a population of +18,000. The Financial Services and Asset Management department is pleased to invite applications for a second Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join the team. This auxiliary, part-time position works 35 hours biweekly, Monday to Wednesday, providing additional coverage for vacation and sick leave as needed. With three union agreements and an exempt employee group, the Payroll & Benefits Coordinators work closely together to ensure the accurate and timely preparation, calculation, and completion of multiple payrolls for all municipal staff. If you have a keen eye for detail, take pride in delivering outstanding service, and have a passion for payroll, we’d love to hear from you!
The successful applicant will be responsible for the interpretation and administration of a comprehensive employee benefits program, communicating with employees and benefits plan administrators, in addition to preparing related reports and records. Considerable independent judgement and action is exercised throughout day-to-day activities, while more complex problems or policy matters are referred to supervisors or management.
Our ideal candidate has graduated from high school, has three years of related experience, accurately producing payroll through a computerized payroll preparation system in a unionized environment, plus completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification through the Canadian Payroll Association.
